Elizabeth died on October 7, 1952 as the result of a fall on the front porch of their home in Stevens Point.
The story my father tells is that she was walking out of the house on to the porch and a broom that was on the porch had been wedged between the screen door and the floor....and when she opened the door, she tripped on the broom and fell, breaking a few of her rib bones.
The doctor wrapped her body in tight bandages to help stabilize the broken bones and thus immobilize that area of her torso so the bones could mend with time.
A few days after being wrapped, the pain continued to worsen and she felt she was suffocating and she was taken back to the hospital where as the doctor started to remove the wrapping, she sighed heavily and said "Oh my Lord..Thank God" and passed away.
It was found that one of the broken bones had pierced her heart and one of the bones had pierced one of her lungs and she had been bleeding internally and the pain had been so great that the doctor was amazed she had lived even that long after the initial wrapping.
She truly died of a "broken heart".

Joseph died on March 20, 1957 after a short illness brought on by an infection that resulted in Gangrene to one of his legs.

I have not been able to determine the exact number of descendants of Joseph and Elizabeth but I estimate that it they are the progenitors of at least 400 human beings that were born from the time of their marriage 123 years ago to the present day.

That is just one of the many reasons to note this anniversary as without this couple meeting, myself and at least 399 other people would never have been born.

Happy 123rd Anniversary great grandpa and grandma!
