Mayflower Passenger

Thanksgiving is tomorrow.
This holiday was always one of my favorites. A day to spend with my family and enjoy good food and the closeness of our family ties. Everyone has special memories of this day for one reason or another or many reasons.

As of a few years ago, this day has brought even more reasons to make it one of my favorite holidays.
That reason is the discovery that me and my siblings and their children are descendants of numerous people who came to America on the Mayflower and who originated the custom of Thanksgiving that we call celebrate on the last Thursday of every November.

Today I would like to remember one set of those ancestral great grandparents and their daughter who is also my ancestral great grandmother.

Meet Issac Allerton and Mary Norris Allerton and their daughter, Mary Allerton Cushman.....my 11th great grandparents and 10th great grandmother, who arrived in North America in 1620 on a ship called the Mayflower.......

November 16th

110th Wedding Anniversary

Henry Chester Dietz & Grace Elizabeth Pope

Maternal Great Grandparents

Henry and Grace were married on this day 110 years ago on November 16th, 1908 in Dayton Township, Waupaca County, Wisconsin.

My maternal great grandparents are descended from families that until a few years ago I knew hardly anything about.
As I was growing up I only knew that my Dietz family line had German origins through Henry and that the Pope family line was of English origins through Grace. This information was given to me by my mother, Marlene Dietz Repinski, who was the granddaughter of these two people....

Read on for the story of Henry and Grace who were both descended from Anglo European stock and who would give me and my siblings and their children an amazing pedigree that stretches back in history to the colonial America of the Mayflower Pilgrims and the first settlers of the country that we now call the United States of America and to the noble and royal families of Europe and Russia.

My Family Tree Discoveries-A Never Ending Quest

Family Tree History & Research
Growing My Tree and Tracing the Branches
New Discoveries

It has been a little more than two years since I discovered my Mother's ancestry from her Dietz and Pope family lines back to Plymouth and Colonial New England and England and Europe. Before that I had discovered Repinski and Dulek family lines that took me back to the 1700s of Poland and Germany with my paternal lines.

I have been working on finding out as much about all of the branches of all of these amazing lines (and unknown to my immediate family until my discoveries) that are part of this tree since then.

It has and continues to be a thrilling journey and the histories and how they connect to the history of our world are at times mind boggling.

Here on this page I shall try to record the ancestors I am discovering and the cousins that we share as a part of all of these lines and it is my hope that I can write stories on each and every one of them and in the process get to know who these people from the past and who live now are.

My reasons for doing this are two fold..
1.To know and have a written record of my family history for myself.

2.To have an enduring record for my siblings and their children and their descendants.

Each day that I dig into the branches I discover at least two to four more ancestral great grandparents and relatives and though not always, the stories of their lives.

This post will be updated often.....
