James V Stewart -14th & 15th Great grandfather

Family History Research
July 2022

Continuing the research into my mother's (Marlene Grace Deitz Repinski) family history, I would like to go back to the year 1502.

That was the year that a King of Scotland was born.
James V (10 April 1512 – 14 December 1542) was King of Scotland from 9 September 1513 until his death, which followed the Scottish defeat at the Battle of Solway Moss.
His only surviving legitimate child, Mary, succeeded him when she was just six days old.
James V was also my 15th Great Grandfather.

One of his daughters, Mary would follow him on to the throne of Scotland and
To discover firstly that I and my siblings and their children have Scottish blood running through our veins was pretty cool. But to find out that it was "Blue Scottish Blood" was cooler yet!

My line from James goes through one of his "bastard" illegitimate children, my 14th Great Grandfather, Robert Stewart.
Robert's mother (my 15th Great Grandmother) was a woman named Euphame (Elphinstone) Bruce, who was one of James' mistresses. I shall try to touch upon her and on my 14th GGF a little further down in the "Family" section of this post.

The line that takes me back to this king of Scotland, comes down to me and my siblings and their children from our mother Marlene and her father Raymond Deitz and his mother, Grace Pope Deitz.
(See the "Lineage" section further down in this post for all of that).

So lets meet this "King of Scots" that is part of my family ancestry......
